The BGs

The “BG” goats are toy goats that have become part of the family

Cool Timeline

2019
BGFG (Bishop Gunn Festival Goat)

The BGs for the Natchez Balloon Festival. I was looking for some kind of a goat in a balloon. I only found party balloons with goats on them and “special” blow-up goats (the band has received one). I ended up getting these bobbleheads because their bodies looked like balloons. The other picture is a balloon that I picked up from a shop in Natchez after the weekend and put a BGBG in as a tribute to the hilarious balloon ride that Travis and Drew took. https://www.facebook.com/BishopgunnMs/videos/525164214715153/

BGRG (Bishop Gunn Rock Goat)

The BG for Bishop Gunn Crawfish Boil 2. I found these cool little goats carved from stone in Progreso Mexico during the Southern Rock Cruise.

BGEG (Bishop Gunn European Goat)

The latest goat is on the front of the awesome Bishop Gunn European Tour shirt.

BGCG (Bishop Gunn Cruise Goat)

The BG for the Southern Rock Cruise was the goat from Steamboat Willie. It seemed fitting since it was a musical goat on a boat.

2018
BGAG (Bishop Gunn Alabama Goat)
BGAG (Bishop Gunn Alabama Goat)

This goat is in the Alabama music video. Director Tyler Barksdale said that it is a nod to the Gunners and our “goat thing”.

BGSG (Bishop Gunn Screaming Goat)

By now it was a game to come up with a new goat to present the guys each time we saw them. I got these cool little screaming goats that came with a pocket guide of fun goat facts. They got them after the Petaluma show and ended up in a bunch of BG Snapchat posts over the next few days.

BGLG (Bishop Gunn Lucky Goat)
BGLG (Bishop Gunn Lucky Goat)

A month after bringing the BGBGs on the CTM9 Cruise, my wife and I attended the 1st Bishop Gunn Crawfish Boil in Natchez, MS. A couple of weeks before BGCB, I was looking at some Funko Pop figurines and found this strange little one-horned goat named “Lucky”. The boat goats happened completely by chance and there were no plans for more of them, but I thought it would be funny to take the BGLGs to the BGCB. My wife was laughing at me when I was packing because I had one suitcase just for the “goat stuff” (BGBGs, BGLGs, the goat mask, etc.). I gave them their new BGLGs during sound check and three of them sat on Ben’s bass amp all day. That evening before their set, Will (the tour manager at the time) walked on stage and grabbed two of them. He sat one on Burne’s drum riser and the other on Drew’s guitar amp. When I look back at the pictures and videos they make me smile. Especially the one on Burne’s riser staring at Travis.

BGBG (Bishop Gunn Boat Goat)

The first of the “BG” goats. They debuted on the Chillin’ The Most 9 Cruise and are the reason Travis named me the Goat Man. When Bishop Gunn posted the Goatobomb picture on their FB page, a lot of the Chillers joked they should bring the “goat on the boat.” I went to a party store a week prior to the cruise to get a few items for theme nights. I saw a goat mask on a shelf and it hit me that I could bring the goat onboard. Next to the mask were a bunch of bins with party favors including little plastic animals. On a whim, I started rummaging through them and found the BGBGs. I bought 4 dozen and took them on the cruise. My wife thought I was nuts (and she’s probably right), but they ended up being a hit with the band and the Gunners. It was so much fun and something for us “goatworthy” (BG came up with that term) Chillers to share.
